Random Team Break Rules
1. Break Format Overview
- A Random Team Break consists of participants purchasing spots that are randomly assigned one or more teams from the product(s) being opened.
- Team assignments are determined at random using Random.org or a comparable transparent randomization method.
- Team assignments may occur live during the break or prior to the break, as stated in the break listing.
2. Team Assignment Process & Trades
- All participant names and all eligible teams will be entered into the randomization process.
- Teams will be randomized and assigned one at a time or via list randomization, at the breaker’s discretion, provided the method is transparent.
- Once teams are assigned, participants may trade teams with other participants in the live chat.
- All trades must be mutually agreed upon and confirmed live.
- Once the first pack of the first box is opened, no trades are allowed from that point forward.
- Participants are responsible for understanding which teams are included in the product being opened.
Teams not present in the product will not have a spot available for purchase, unless explicitly stated otherwise in the break listing.
3. Card Ownership & Team Identification
- A card will be awarded to the team explicitly listed on the front or back of the card, not based on the jersey worn in the image.
- If no team name, logo, or abbreviation appears anywhere on the card, the card will be awarded to the team represented by the jersey worn by the player, if applicable.
- Team designations are based on the team shown on the card and not on the player’s past, current, or future affiliation, except as provided in the Legacy Player Rule below.
4. Multi-Team Cards
- Cards featuring two teams are assigned based on the official break number:
- Odd-numbered breaks → awarded to the Left Side / Top / Front team
- Even-numbered breaks → awarded to the Right Side / Bottom / Back team
- Team order is determined by the order printed on the card.
- Cards featuring three or more teams will be randomized among all teams represented on the card using a transparent method.
5. Special Card Types
Sketch Cards
- Sketch Cards are awarded to the team represented on the card, as indicated by a team name, logo, or official abbreviation.
- If no team name, logo, or abbreviation appears on the card, the Sketch Card will be randomized at the conclusion of the break, unless otherwise stated in the break listing.
Printing Plates
- Printing Plates are awarded to the team shown on the plate.
- If no team is shown, the plate will be randomized among all teams.
Redemptions
- Redemptions are awarded based on the team indicated on the redemption card, if a team is shown.
- If no team is listed on the redemption card, the redemption will be awarded to the current team the player actively plays for at the time the redemption is fulfilled.
- If the player is no longer actively playing, the redemption will be awarded in accordance with the Legacy Player Rule.
6. Legacy Player Rule
College & USA Players
- Cards featuring college or USA players are awarded to the team the player most recently appeared with in a preseason, regular season, or playoff game.
- If the player is a rookie who has not yet appeared in a professional game, the card is awarded to the player’s current professional team.
Retired Players
- Cards featuring retired players are awarded to the team listed on the card, if shown.
- If no team is listed, the card is awarded to the team the player appeared with for the greatest number of games during their professional career.
Defunct / Relocated Teams
- If a player’s primary team no longer exists, the card is awarded to the current franchise that team became.
Final Fallback
- If a card cannot be reasonably assigned using the criteria above, it will be randomized at the conclusion of the break using a transparent method, at the breaker’s discretion and in good faith.
7. Randomization & Transparency
- All randomizations are conducted live and/or recorded using a transparent method.
- All randomization results and trade confirmations are final once completed.
- All activities are recorded live on https://www.youtube.com/@SpaceCityBreaks and are available for review.
8. Final Terms
- All determinations are made live and in good faith.
- Decisions made during the break are final.
- Random Team Breaks are a retail promotional format tied to collectible products and are not a gambling activity.
